How’s it going otakus? I’m back with another manga review, and today’s review will be “Am I Actually the Strongest?” Volume 1 by Sai Sumimori. This is great, fast read isekai, so if you’re into that kind of genre, then let’s dive in.

The story begins with Haruto, who after years of isolating himself in his room, after constant bullying, dies and is given the opportunity to be reincarnated with overpowered skills by a deity. He wants to live a peaceful slothful life, and so he agrees, only to start over as a baby born of royal blood in a magical world. The deity accidently gave him too much mana, 1002 to be exact! However, the magic measuring devices in the world cannot measure his true mana!

With his parents thinking him to be a dud, they quickly abandon him in the woods. While there, he begins learning his magical prowess, as he immediately comes in contact with a wild beast named Flay. After beating her, she claims he is the reborn demon king and she will stand by his side and take care of him. Suddenly, an older man approaches, saying he will take Haruto and his beast companion in for he cares not of how much mana the boy has. The two agree, and are given a comfortable living with the family.

The story then fast forwards nine years, where we see Haruto trying his best to live a peaceful life with is adoptive parents and sister Charlotte. He has learned more about his magical capabilities and has learned that his barrier magic is capable of so much, even crossing over technological aspects from his previous world.

Overall, this was a nice quick read isekai. I loved that it had diverse aspects all woven in together from the MC’s previous world and the magical world. I also have to give Ai Takahashi kudos, I loved the story art! The expressions were well drawn and at times hilarious. Flay is such a comedic relief character and I love that Haruto doesn’t even realize he is becoming a hero and not a sloth as he intended at first.

I give “Am I Actually the Strongest?” volume 1 an 8.5/10 and give it the MAM approval! I have already started reading volume 2, so perhaps I’ll do a volume 2 review soon!
