What’s the oldest thing you own that you still use daily?

The oldest thing I own that I still use daily is possibly my bookshelf. It was one of those purchases I made right out of high school, when I was going into college. I wanted something to house my overflowing amounts of literature. It had been used already, I found it for $15 bucks at a side of the road yard sale back in 2009. I am really aging myself there.

It’s a black tall bookshelf, probably from IKEA or Walmart given the material. But it has held up through 5 moves, 15+ years of books being rotated in and out, my toddlers attempting to climb it like Mt. Everest , and my sweet husky mix deciding that its feet was the perfect chew toy.

I read to my children daily, so we are consistently adding new books, rereading classics, and reorganizing (I try to keep it alphabetized to the best that my children will allow). So I definitely would say that it is one of the oldest things I own. For the amount of years I have gotten out of it, I would say it was $15 well spent. Of course, we are in need of another possibly bigger bookshelf. But this one holds such memories, that I couldn’t possibly depart from it. Even the chew marks on the bottom make me smile as unfortunately, the pup who made them is no longer with us, so I cherish any remnants of her time with me.

It’s odd to feel that way towards a piece of mundane furniture but perhaps I am the sentimental type.

What is the oldest thing you guys have? Let me know in the comments!

And as always, see you later otakus.
