Sit down and take a seat, take a load off, I got some fresh pippin’ hot tea from this week’s episode of “The Dangers In My Heart.” This week’s episode was a battle against bros, and was definitely one where we really see Kyo peaking! Lets get into it otakus!
With class 1’s teacher trying to hype the class for their very last sports day, Kyo gets invited to do the chariot run. He declines at first, wanting to stay out of it. However, after some guy talk with Adachi, we see the wheels turning in Kyo’s mind. Should he or shouldn’t he? Adachi wants to show off to Yamada, but will Kyo stand by and let that happen?

Adachi ends up giving Kyo that last push to enter the competition by asking him to go one on one with him. Kyo agrees and begins to get serious about his competition. Wanting to first beat out Adachi (his rival) but also I believe to feel worthier of Yamada’s affections and attentions.
I don’t know about you all, but this really made my heart swell, seeing Kyo’s friendship progression with Adachi. Think back to the beginning of the first season, there were times when our short boy wanted to slit this boy for all the things he said about Yamada, but now, he says he will enter the competition for him. Is there some selfishness to see if he is better than Adachi? Possibly. But, I would like to think that this shows just how much the two have grown and how their friendship has really blossomed starting with Adachi’s confession about liking Yamada. They both were able to find a common ground there, and I do believe that Adachi sees Kyo as a friend but also as a rival, so there is that mix of competition. I also think that in his own way, this is him trying to bring the two closer together, by forcing Kyo to stand out and fight for her.
Now let’s speed up to Kyo training for the event and boy did the animators go wild with this one…..

So Kyo is out running, trying to take this competition seriously, he runs into Yamada, who gets him to come home with her. Girl breaks out the ab roller and starts doing a set and of course the animators…yall know what you did…..
Anyway, Kyo gets fired up and ready for his match with Adachi, it seems like it’s going to be a good showdown!
Sports Day arrives and the crew is getting ready for their events. Yamada ends up writing something on Kyo and tells him not to take off his headband. What could she have written you say? We don’t know, but….it begins raining right before the chariot run. Adachi and Kyo both convince the teachers to let them go ahead and do the event. With the teachers conceding and Yamada watching from the sidelines, can I get a “Let’s get ready to rumbleeeeeeeee”…..
The two face off, trying their best to hash out their headbands and their feelings. I honestly loved this scene. Kyo admits his feelings for Yamada. He just lays his heart out to Adachi, all his pent up emotions, and it really says something for how these two have grown close to one another. Would he have done this with any of the other guys? I think not. I got to say, I wonder what the other guys who were holding up the two were thinking during this scene? Let me know what you all think.
Adachi begins admitting defeat, defeat of his inability to gain Yamada’s affection, and Kyo, our short boy, instead of letting him take defeat in shame, goes for hyping Adachi up? The boys hash it out with Kyo ultimately losing as Adachi rips his headband to reveal Kyo written in Yamada’s handwriting. I like to think that Kyo lost the battle but he won the war, as Adachi smiles, accepting his defeat of winning Yamada.
Later in the nurses office, Yamada comes to visit Kyo and Adachi gives them their space and as he leaves, he gets handed a towel from Sekine. So does anyone else think that Sekine might be throwing hints his way? Anyone? Is it just me? Best girl Kana comes to see her brother too, and we get this hilarious interaction between her and Adachi as she tells him to get lost. I love her. She quickly leaves though, realizing Yamada is there. Kana, you really are the best.
Kyo still is reeling over the disappointment of losing the game but Yamada leaves him with some great advice. Saying that not forgetting disappointment is the most important part of moving on. It makes Kyo realize that he has been harboring some long lived disappointments in his life and he now knows what he needs to do in order to grow up and move forward.
The episode ends with Yamada giving him a bento just for him, a delicious one at that. She tries to have lunch with him, but he turns her down, thinking it would give the wrong impression. She goes to leave, but not without telling him he looked cool.

He was all blushed out after that one……..absolute pure diabetes. I can’t wait for the next episode! How is season 2 almost over? What did you think about this week’s episode? Let me know in the comments!
