Now more than ever, people are struggling with mental health. I totally get it! The economy, inflation, evil lurking at every corner, it seems like there is negativity every where we look. But I have found a few things that have helped me cope mentally and emotionally with the day to day stresses.
Make time for yourself and to do the things you love
It’s so hard today to make time for ourselves. As a mom of two, working two jobs in addition to running this blog, it is almost near impossible sometimes for me to find time for myself. But what I have learned is, I have to force myself too. I make the time to get a babysitter or plan a quick hike to get away from my everyday surroundings when both my body and my mind need a break. Doing something you love brings your mind and soul back into alignment. I can’t tell you how many times I have read a good long book, binged an anime, or went hiking, and it was like a wave of endorphins were released and I felt so content and at peace and ready to conquer the world.
Journal (write everything down)
I am a firm believer in journaling! I think that writing everything down, the good and the bad, helps us cope with stress, outline our goals and aspirations, and helps us to gain control over our emotions to improve our overall mental health. Sometimes unloading on a piece of paper gives me more satisfaction than speaking to another person because the paper listens, it waits for you to finish your thoughts, and allows you to then come up with resolutions to help yourself. When we journal, we can see our mental state, we can see our inner most thoughts put into words, there is something so reassuring in that, we end up finding more about ourselves and who we are. We can then retrain our minds and begin the process of finding resolutions to our problems and how to fight against negativity.
There are so many benefits of journaling and I recommend it to everyone.
Listen to music
Lastly and certainly not least, I believe that music is food for the mind and soul. Music has a profound effect on me. It has been known to make me experience all forms of emotions. I can be in a bad mood and put on a lively song and by the end, forget about what I was feeling negative about in the first place.
What did you think about my strategies? Do you have similar ones?
