I was perusing the aisle of my local bookstore and happened upon this delightful mystery manga. It’s premise caught my eye and I decided to give it a try.
It starts off like many other manga, some high school aged kids are heading back to school after a long break, but something more sinister lies beyond the surface as we soon find out that we are currently in the aftermath of a suicide at a school festival.
Eight students gather in the school, but their classmates and teachers are no where to be found. They soon realize they are trapped in an empty school building. Little oddities begin to happen causing them to discern that this must have to do with the suicide that happened. What’s worst, is they cannot remember the name of the classmate that committed suicide during the school festival. Each of the students begin confronting the darkness of their past, as they search for the name of their classmate before something bad happens. With the clock frozen at 5:53, the group uncover the mysteries in a school literally frozen in time.

This manga had me reeling, on the edge of my seat, trying to figure out who the suicidal classmate was. I was in just pure shock at the events that transpired, and it honestly is one of those mystery manga that isn’t easily predictable. The ending was definitely not what I expected and I have to give kudos to by Mizuki Tsujimura (Author) , Naoshi Arakawa (Author) for a very well written series.
Without giving too much away as far as plot, the authors do a great job of meshing a whole series of events that brought these group of kids together. We get to see the perspectives of the events from the group leading up to the suicide and there are some literally tea that gets spilled.
I would say this manga is MAM APPROVED! What are you waiting for?
