The Dangers In My Heart has just beat out the rest of the Winter 2024 anime for seven consecutive weeks, earning its seat for a contender of Anime of the Year!

Yesterday’s episode titled, “We Stayed Up All Night” definitely had me staying up all night scooping myself up after turning into sugar grains.

Let’s go over some of the highlights of this week’s episode.

Season two has really came on strong with seeing an increase in developments between Yamada and Ichikawa. This week’s episode brought a new twist, as Yamada joined the Ichikawa family for a memorable birthday celebration for our favorite short boy.

I don’t know about yall but I was honestly HOLLERIN’ during the birthday dinner. Yamada saying she was a light-eater (Kyo came in clutch with the “Lie of the year” comeback within his mind) Then mama Ichi comes in humming the wedding march with Kyo’s birthday cake. I was WEAK!!!

We also got to see a 1 on 1 basketball match between the two earlier in the episode where Yamada does a sweet lay up winning the opportunity to ask something of Ichikawa. Yamada, has been really making the effort to get Ichikawa to man up this season, and asks him if she can start calling him Kyo, a hint they are taking things to another level in their relationship. Yamada then follows through with a spicy Happy Birthday whisper that had Kyo keeled over after blowing the candles out.

Lastly but certainly not least, let’s discuss the SLEEPOVER. Yes, you heard me right. Yamada gets her mom to let her sleepover at the Ichikawa’s household thanks to Kana’s suggestion (THE BEST GIRL). We get to see the two bond in the living room while everyone else is asleep. Ichikawa surprised me again this episode, opening up to Yamada about why he tends to be a rebel. I think Yamada realized just how much she is getting to know Ichikawa and just how much he is trying to build their relationship. She brings him in for a hug to reassure and comfort him. Watching Ichikawa tuck Yamada in after the two stayed up talking all night was just too heartwarming to handle. Ichikawa has come so far from the kid he was in the first season.

This episode was pure diabetes with humor on the side. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am looking forward to the morning after their sleepover. Will Yamada get in trouble? Will Kyo start calling Yamada by her first name? Let me know what you think.
