Over a decade ago, Hal Films Maker studios blessed us with this master piece covering up to Chapter 66 of the manga source material. For those that have never watched this “God tier” anime, Skip Beat! follows Kyouko Mogami, who works multiple jobs to support her childhood friend and crush, Shoutarou “Shou” Fuwa, in his path to stardom. However, her heart is broken when she overhears Shou talk about how he sees her as nothing more than a maid. Angered over being used, Kyouko is set off into a rage and vows to get revenge on Shou by entering the world of showbiz to surpass him. She rises to the challenge and vows nothing will stop her quest for vengeance!

It has been 14 years since Skip beat! aired its last episode in March of 2009, and since then many fans of the anime have wondered if they will ever get a second season or even a reboot like “Fruits Basket” did. There is certainly enough source material to be animated, as it is often called the “One Piece” of Shoujo manga with over 47 volumes with no signs of finishing!

It can be said that the anime’s director made poor decisions by cutting out considerable parts of earlier chapters for the sake of cutting to the chase, creating less material to work with. Combined with the fact that the first season aired during a technological revolution where a second season would need to meet higher production standards. All this combined, is why I believe it was not greenlit.

However, Skip Beat! fans want to know what happens to Kyouko ? Will she get famous and finally get revenge? What about Ren? what about the arrogant Shou? The last episode left so many unanswered questions.

The fact remains, we are in 2023, and still there is no sign of a season 2 in the works. Fans have grown frustrated and have even started petitions to garner ground in forcing the producers to make season 2. However, I believe that due to the gap in between seasons and animations style, it would be best to reboot the anime completely.

Time will only tell if we will ever see Kyouko’s fate!
