While we were in lockdown, during the pandemic of 2020, Studio Nexus gifted us with the animation of this amazing underrated anime, Darwin’s Game.

Darwin’s Game, which follows Kaname Sudo, a high school student, who receives an invitation from a classmate to play Darwin’s Game, a mobile game he had never heard of. However, he soon learns that this is no ordinary mobile game, but a fight for survival.

This anime definitely deserves a second season. Darwin’s Game came out in 2020, produced by Studio Nexus, the same studio as Chainsaw man. It drew in fairly positive ratings throughout its running and currently holds a 7.23 score on myanimelist.net. The animation and art style and the music are actually simply amazing. These aspects of the show were covered well.I was also completely engrossed in the plot and the characters. I was fully invested in the sunset ravens. It gave me modern Jumanji meets Hunger Games vibe.

I thought for sure I would see a season 2 on the horizons. Three years later and we have still yet to see a season 2 confirmed for Darwin’s game. After researching further, there are plenty of material left in the manga that hasn’t been covered, so there is so much more for the audience to experience! Not sure what is holding up production by Studio Nexus for season 2. But, I do hope that it will eventually get one. If Tokyo Revengers can finally get season 2, so can Darwin’s Game!
